As a yoga student, many of us have been the recipients of both wonderful and not-so-good assists. The “right” assist can help us feel stronger, offer us encouragement, and allow us to open to our own experiences. Depending on the teacher’s approach, assists can other times feel invasive, disempowering or even made us to feel wrong.
The Heart of Assisting Yoga Teacher Training course encourages participants explore a variety of hands-on assists that help stabilize and open students in commonly taught yoga postures as well as manipulations + Thai yoga- like movements. Students of this program will also learn when “not” to offer a hands-on assist and how to use language and cues to support a student’s safety and depth.
